Bradford on Avon Walking Festival – 4th, 5th and 6th September

A great weekend of walking is promised over the first weekend in September with 20 walks to suit all abilities, ranging in distance from 1 mile up to 12 miles.
For the fit and adventurous there will be three long walks, one of 10.5 miles  going through the 2 Tunnels into Bath and the other two, 10 miles and 12 miles respectively following the Macmillan Way which runs right through Bradford on Avon.
We’ll be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support  throughout the weekend so three of our walks finish with tea and cake and the profits will go to the charity.
Some old favourites will be back – bat detecting, bird spotting, a guided Town Walk, wild herb discovery walk, Quirky Corners and the Two Valleys.
And we have some new ones on the programme – a Saturday night Ghost Walk, wild food foraging, a chance to try out Nordic Walking (which is a good body workout walking with specially designed poles), Sunday lunch at The New Inn at Westwood, exploring local community woods and a dog friendly ramble.  We’re also working closely with the Bike Event organisers to lay on a Town Trail quiz which can be done at any time over the weekend whenever you have a bit of spare time.
Don’t leave it too late to get your tickets though – all walks must be booked in advance with Holidays and Cruises For You in Silver Street, opposite The Bear Ale and Cider House, tel. 01225 865725; tickets are non-refundable and a small charge is applied to card transactions.
