As consultant representative for Wiltshire Council, I write to inform you of resurfacing works along Downs View in Bradford on Avon.
These works involve the resurfacing of the existing carriageway, the installation of new road markings and the adjustment of surface ironwork. The works will commence Monday 8th February 2016 and will be completed by Monday 15th February 2016 during weekdays only, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30. However, on occasion they may over run due to uncontrollable circumstances such as plant breakdowns; unfavourable weather conditions or additional repairs discovered during the work. There will be advance information signs erected on site giving confirmed start dates. Due to the nature of the required works and the local environment, the works are to be carried out within a temporary road closure. This ensures that adequate health and safety is maintained for local residents / road users and the Contractor. Road Markings and Ironwork adjustments may need to be completed at a later date. The main diversion route for all ‘through’ traffic whilst works are being undertaken within the road closure will be via B3108 Winsley Road, Churches and vice versa. The Contractor will endeavour to maintain vehicular access for the duration of the works; although due to the nature of the works minor disruption is inevitable. It is essential that the road remains un-trafficked until the new material has set, as early trafficking could lead to premature failure. Dedicated traffic management operatives at the extent of the works will monitor access and give motorists assistance. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience these works will cause, but trust you will appreciate the necessity for these essential works to maintain Wiltshire’s highway network.
