Today’s glorious sunshine provided a great opportunity for Town Council officers Keith Draper and Simon Sutton to make some serious headway on the replacement of plot marking posts at the Sladesbrook and Bancroft allotments.
Now that the Colonel William Llewellen Palmer Educational Charity has taken over responsibility for these allotments we have begun a long overdue programme of maintenance work to bring them back up to the desired standard for our tenants, as well as identifying plots available for the long waiting list that had built up. Along with Sarah Gibson (Unitary Councillor for Wiltshire), the Town Council is the trustee of the charity and is wholeheartedly committed to the provision of well managed opportunities like this for our residents.
Cllr Simon McNeill-Ritchie said:
Since we took over responsibility for these allotments we have been working up plans to improve them for the benefit of everyone involved. Now that spring has finally arrived, it is great to be able put them into effect and to see the difference these changes are already making. I’m looking forward to seeing the fruits of this labour later in the year at the annual Bradford on Avon Flower and Produce Show!
