Are you ready for the big BoA Christmas Switch-On?
|The beautiful Bradford on Avon lights will soon illuminate the town for the Christmas season, with the Switch On event this Friday 30th November – the main event will be in Westbury Garden though the festivities will take place across the town. |
The light Switch On evening begins at 5pm in Westbury Garden with live entertainment from Shannon Kitchen who appeared in ‘The Voice’ 2017 and there’ll also be a face painting stand for the kids to get them even more in the festive spirit, perhaps before visiting Santa in his grotto from 5:30pm on Church Street.
Betty Twinkle will also be out and about in the town, riding her festive robin and spreading sparkles and cheer.Back in Westbury Garden, the music continues with Sandy Ince and her ‘Sticky Toffee Jazz’ from 6pm including songs from artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Caro Emerald and of course some classic Christmas tunes.
Just before 6:30pm the lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Bradford on Avon and the winner of the Shining Light of Bradford on Avon Community Award for 2018, Gail Keverne, who was nominated for her outstanding contribution to the lives of people from the town over the past 30 years.
With the lights twinkling, the music from Sticky Toffee jazz will continue until 7:30pm, and don’t forget, Christmas is a time for giving so pop over to the opening at 6.45pm in Lamb Yard of the annual Elizabeth Rose Giving Tree which will be taking donations for Bath Cats and Dogs Home, The Hub and Julian House.
We look forward to welcoming people to this fabulous event and encourage visitors to explore and support our bounty of independent eateries and shops whilst they are here.
