Culver Close community pavilion

Background

Bradford on Avon Town Council is working on a project to create a new community and sports pavilion for Culver Close (and Victory Field)

The new pavilion would replace the separate pavilions that are currently in Culver Close and Victory Field. It would also replace the storage containers and the tennis hut.

The aim of the project is to build a modern facility that can be used by the community and that encourages sport in the town.

The new building will also feature new public toilets to replace the current toilets in Culver Close.

Planning application

We’ve submitted a planning application for a new pavilion at Culver Close.

You can view the application on Wiltshire Council’s website – and the deadline for comments is Friday 26 April 2024.

What’s happened so far

In June 2021, the Town Council held a workshop with some of the key community groups and potential users of the new facility. This helped to shape the project brief.

Then in September 2021, we consulted with the public and user groups to understand what facilities they want to be included in any proposed design.

In March 2022, Councillors discussed the ideas and plans.

And following further public consultation Earlier in 2022, plans for the pavilion were discussed by the Town Development committee in May 2022.

We’ve received pre-planning advice from Wiltshire Council. You can read this here – with an explanation of what Wiltshire Council’s advice means for the project from our development consultants.

Councillors unanimously agree at Full Council (31 October) to submit a planning application for a new pavilion at Culver Close.

The new design will be built on the footprint of the current pavilion and will provide a much needed update to the facilities.
