University of Bath MSc Student Exhibition of Designs for the Station Car Park
May 4 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 11:00am, repeating until 5th May 2018
The MSc on Modern Building Design is a civil engineering course at the University of Bath. Each year, students on the course select a site nearby and develop their own ideas into designs for its redevelopment. Councillors Sarah Gibson and Simon McNeill- Ritchie invited this year’s students to imagine ways in which the Bradford on Avon Station Car Park and surrounding area could be put to better use for the benefit of the local community.
The students began by conducting a preliminary analysis of the site. Students were then put into groups to draw up a brief and a set of development directives. Each student separately defined the extent and content of their building design before completing their project. During the second semester students explored, developed and resolved their building proposal. As part of their task, students had to investigate the performance of their building in terms of energy efficiency and carbon emission. They also studied rules and regulations impacting their design, in particular, issues related to Heritage.
Finally each student was asked to prepare a single exhibition panel to communicate their proposition and it is these panels which will be exhibited.
They’d love to hear your feedback on the designs, so please come along to St Margaret’s Hall on:
Friday 4th May, 12 – 6pm
Saturday 5th May, 11 – 3pm
