Trauma, Survival and Resilience: A Conference on Mental Health
in Palestine and Israel

A day-long conference on the impact of occupation, oppression and conflict on the mental health of Palestinians and Israelis – as individuals, but also as communities and societies.

Speakers include:

Harry Fear – Journalist and Film-maker, who will be presenting his documentary “Gaza: Still Alive”

John Soos, PhD will be talking about vicarious trauma, ie the trauma experienced by mental health professionals, as a result of treating and supporting their patients

Mohamed Altawil: founder of the Palestine Trauma Centre in the UK which, through its specialist psychosocial and therapeutic projects in Gaza, works to support traumatised children and their families.

Avigail Abarbanel who was born in Tel Aviv and raised in Bat Yam, Israel has edited and published Beyond Tribal Loyalties, Personal Stories of Jewish Peace Activists.

Maria Chambers, lives in Wiltshire, but travels widely in the Middle-East for Action For Child Trauma, a charity which trains local healthcare workers how to treat children with PTSD.
