Flooding updates from Bradford on Avon Town Council (28/11/2024)

It’s been an incredibly tough week for everyone in Bradford on Avon, especially for residents and businesses in the town centre who faced flooding in their homes and premises.

In the aftermath of the flooding, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone – residents, businesses and volunteers – who pulled together during this challenging time.

It was heartening to see so many step up so quickly to support those in need.

A special thank you also goes to our town council officers, who went above and beyond their remit to provide as much help as possible.

Mayor of Bradford on Avon, Councillor Jack Vittles said: “The week has been devastating for so many in our town.

“But the resilience, community spirit and hard work of all residents and volunteers has been inspiring to witness.”

Barton Farm Country Park

Packhorse Bridge in Barton Farm Country Park is now closed (27/11/2024). It will need to be assessed by Wiltshire Council.

We’ve also closed the play area at Barton Farm for now (27/11/2024).
The play equipment still needs to be cleaned following the recent flooding. We’ll let everyone know when it is safe to use again.

Christmas Lights Switch-On

We’ve had to cancel our Christmas Lights Switch-On event because of the flooding.

The Christmas lights will still be switched on in town, but we won’t be able to host any sort of event.

We’ll keep you updated once the lights have dried out and passed a safety check. Thank you for your understanding.

If you were scheduled to hold an event and are going ahead, we can support this by promoting it on our What’s On pages & tourism social media accounts. You can register your event here or send a message directly on socials.

Our venues

St Margaret’s Hall and the Tourist Information Centre are both currently closed while we assess the flood damage inside the buildings. The community fridge is also closed.
