On her election to Mayor of Bradford on Avon, Cllr Katie Vigar said: “It’s a privilege to have this opportunity to work with my fellow councillors and the people of our wonderful town. One of this town’s greatest strengths is its community.

“We saw that during the pandemic and we see it again with the tremendous welcome for the Ukrainians who are arriving here.

“Community spirit will also be vital in facing up to the cost of living crisis as a town.

“I look forward to doing all I can to represent and support our community over the coming year.”

Newly elected Deputy Mayor, Cllr Parker added: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as Deputy Mayor for the town during such interesting times.

“I’d like to thank my colleagues for voting for me and having confidence in me to undertake the duties of the Deputy Mayor.

“In the next year, I want to build on the work I’ve undertaken over the past five years with the town’s older population and those most vulnerable.

“I hope to increase my understanding of the wider locality and work with other towns in the county to bring fresh ideas to Bradford on Avon.”
