Bradford on Avon Town Council has elected Councillor Jack Vittles as mayor of the town until May 2025.
Councillor Vittles, who succeeds Councillor Katie Vigar. He has been town councillor since 2021.
Town councillors elected Councillor Vittles at the Annual Full Council meeting on Tuesday 7 May 2024.
On his election, the new Mayor said: “I am truly honoured to have been elected Mayor and Chair of the Council and to follow on from Councillor Vigar.
“I would like to pay tribute to all her hard work during the past 2 years and offer my sincere thanks on behalf of the whole town and town council.
“I am anticipating a really productive and exciting year ahead and look forward to working constructively with all my fellow councillors, town council staff and terrific volunteers to continue to improve our wonderful town.
“I am particularly excited to see how we can continue to improve and expand our events, play parks and facilities for young families in our town.”
Councillors also elected Councillor Sam Blackwell as the new deputy mayor.
“I am very grateful to be elected by fellow councillors to serve the town as deputy mayor and deputy chair of the council this year with all the opportunities the role brings to get more involved in the community,” said Councillor Blackwell.
“As a town council, we have an ambitious plan for the year ahead focusing on the events and projects that bring our community together, support residents and local businesses, and tackle the climate and ecological emergency.
“I am greatly looking forward to supporting our new mayor and working with the whole town council team to deliver on our programme and ensure our town continues to thrive.”
