Funds roll in from book sale

On Saturday 12th June, a second hand book sale was held in Westbury Garden to raise funds for the BoA Skatepark project, part of a phased Poulton Outdoor Sports Area.

The event was put together by the group ‘A new Skatepark for BoA‘ along with Cllr Kate Bessant, and saw hundreds of books generously donated by the community. Along with books, the team were also selling tote bags and t-shirts bearing skatepark logos, as well as limited edition prints donated by local artists.

We have now totted up the taking on behalf of the organisers, and are thrilled to announce that they made a whopping…

…one thousand, nine hundred and eighty nine pounds !!!

Of this, £954 from bags, books and prints and remaining £1035 from book sales and donations!
On hearing the news, Cllr Kate Bessant said:

“A big thank you to everyone who came to support the skatepark, it was lovely to hear so many words of encouragement and raise so much money for the fund.

As it was the first time we’d organised the event, we hadn’t set a target. We are all blown away by the money raised and the generosity of the town and visitors!

I’d also like to give a huge thanks to our team of volunteers and council staff for manning the stalls and doing lots of heavy lifting and particular thanks to The Swan Hotel for book storage and Barefoot Live for lending us marquees. A real community effort!”
