Culver Close Recreational Ground

Culver Close Recreational Ground is home to Bradford on Avon Cricket Club, the Bowls Club and 3 community tennis courts.  The recreational ground is a wonderful green space in the town on the edge of Frome Road, backing up to Barton Farm Country Park.  Culver Close is available to hire for events such as fitness groups and boot camps.

Tennis courts

In 2024 we worked with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to improve the tennis courts at Culver Close. This happened as part of the LTA’s Park Tennis Project, a nationwide project investing in public tennis courts. The work included:
  • resurfacing and remarking
  • installing new nets
  • fitting a new access gate.
Unlike before, you’ll need to book the tennis courts to play. There is also a charge to use the courts. You’ll be able to sign up for either an annual membership (£40 per household) or pay as you play (£6 per hour). The money from these charges goes toward the future maintenance of the tennis courts. There’s a dedicated website which handles this for us. You can book a court or an annual membership on our ClubSpark website.

Community Pavilion

We are working to replace the cricket pavilion at Culver Close.  A project update is expected at the Tuesday 31 October meeting of Full Council. At the meeting we will display designs for the new pavilion on Culver Close on the footprint of the original site. St Margaret’s Hall will be open from 6.30pm so that anyone interested can come down and have a look before the plans are discussed. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions during the meeting.
