Solar Panels on St Margaret's Hall

As part of addressing the urgent issue of Climate Change, the Town Council installed Solar Panels on the south facing roof of St. Margaret’s Hall in early 2019.

The 78 panels were unveiled on Sunday 3 March 2019.

We invested £30,000 in the panels and the public has responded to the solar panels positively.

At the Tuesday 14 March 2023 Environment & Green Spaces committee meeting figures were presented to Councillors on the solar panels success so far.

Electricity generated in MWh (MegaWatt hours):

  • 2019: 23.46 MWh
  • 2020: 25.93 MWh
  • 2021: 23.42 MWh
  • 2022: 25.18 MWh

Naturally, the panels generate more electricity in sunnier weather.

  • 2020: 7.5 tons
  • 2021: 6.6 tons
  • 2022: 7.3 tons

  • 2019: £1,611
  • 2020: £2,636
  • 2021: £2,163
  • 2022: £2,109
