Our Town Vision

Background

Over the last year, councillors have been talking to people and groups in the town about the following topics:

  • business, commerce, and employment – including vocational training
  • community, health, and happiness
  • young people: education, play, and learning
  • green spaces; green and blue infrastructure – and the natural environment
  • housing and the built environment
  • travel and transport

These conversations and discussions have helped to shape and inspire the draft version of our vision for Bradford on Avon.

Our town vision

You can read our draft vision for the town here: Our vision for Bradford on Avon (pdf)

The town vision explains our hopes and aspirations for Bradford on Avon.

Supporting these hopes and aspirations, we’ve also detailed aims and priorities for the town – split into the topics listed above: Aims and priorities supporting our town vision (pdf)

The aims and priorities are all informed by our aspirations – and if they happen, they will contribute towards our vision for the town.

Ideas for the town

By topic, we’ve also included some of the ideas put forward by people in the town.

These are ideas that were suggested during the conversations and discussions about the town vision.

Importantly, these are just ideas for discussion at this stage. Some of these ideas would be the responsibility of other organisations in the town – like Wiltshire Council or the Environment Agency. Other ideas might sit more naturally with other groups too – something like parkrun or junior parkrun, for example. In time though, some ideas might become part of the town council’s work programme.

What happens next

We’re sharing the draft vision with the people and the groups that we talked to in the first place.
