Town council adopts new policies to protect green spaces

We’ve adopted 2 new policies to help conserve and protect Bradford on Avon’s parks and green spaces.

The first of these – which was discussed by the Resources Committee – confirmed that we do not allow metal detecting in the town’s parks and green spaces.

And at last night’s Environment & Green Spaces Committee, councillors also confirmed that we don’t allow barbeques in the parks and green spaces that we look after.

Barbeques in green spaces can be a fire risk – and disposable barbeques were linked to some of the wildfires that happened in neighbouring counties last year.

Both of these policies will also help to protect the grass, trees and habitats that make up our natural environment.

Recent incidents of metal detecting on Victory Field and Culver Close and finding still hot and littered barbeques, lead to these policies.
