Home Town Council Annual events in Bradford on Avon

Annual events in Bradford on Avon

Throughout the year the town council organises many community events for the benefit of residents and visitors alike. At the town council, we’re committed to creating well-organised community events, so it’s been wonderful to see all the positive feedback from residents and visitors alike.

And this is something clearly appreciated by residents and the wider BOA community as event attendance seemingly grows year-on-year. Our annual events include:

  • Pancake Race
  • Duck Race
  • BOA Live Music Festival
  • Bradford on Avon Fireworks Display
  • Christmas Lights Switch On.

Pancake Race

The Pancake Race takes place every year on Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day). The event is a chance for local businesses to let loose and compete for bragging (or flipping) rights – fancy dress is optional but strongly encouraged.

Traditionally, the race has taken place across the iconic Town Bridge. However, in 2025, the race was moved to Victory Field, providing a safer environment and allowing even more local businesses to take part.

The date of for the next Pancake Race is Tuesday 17 February 2026.

Duck Race

A favourite Bradford on Avon tradition, the Easter Duck Race sees 1,000 rubber ducks released from the Town Bridge into the River Avon. There’s also a Business Duck Race, artisan stalls and entertainment across Lamb Yard and Westbury Garden.

The date of the next Duck Race is Monday 4 May 2026.

BOA Live Music Festival

Since its launch in 2022, the Bradford on Avon Music Festival has become a summer highlight. Over three days, venues across town host a vibrant mix of live music – from indie and rock to pop, jazz and blues.

The date of the next festival is yet to be confirmed!

Bradford on Avon Fireworks Display

Held every November, the BOA Fireworks Display lights up the sky above Poulton Park – but is visible across the town. This family-friendly event features food stalls, music, fairground rides and a dazzling carbon-neutral fireworks show. The event is free to attend with donations supporting local projects.

The date of the next display is Sunday 2 November 2025.

Christmas Lights Switch On

Kick off the festive season with our magical Christmas Lights Switch-On in Westbury Garden. Enjoy live music, fairground rides, a local gift fair and a visit from Santa himself. The Mayor leads the countdown as the town’s beautiful lights are switched on.

The date of the next Christmas Lights Switch-On is Friday 29 November 2025.
