We’re really pleased that Surfers Against Sewage awarded Bradford on Avon with plastic free community status. This was awarded to the town in recognition for its work in reducing the impact of single-use plastics on the local environment.
Bradford on Avon was the first town in Wiltshire to achieve the plastic free community status.
In order to qualify, 7 local businesses had to prove they had made concerted efforts to implement change.
The initiative was started by the steering group of Plastic Free Bradford on Avon, who joined with the Waste Group of Climate Friendly BoA to benefit from their expertise and enthusiasm.
The 7 plastic free heroes of Bradford on Avon at the time of assessment were:
- Christine’s Sustainable Supermarket
- The Swan
- Brown’s Hardware
- Woolley Grange Hotel
- The Georgian Lodge
- Iford Manor
- The Cheese Shop.
Though many local businesses made a big effort to eliminate plastic and continue to fly the plastic free flag.
