Reducing Waste

What we buy and how we use and consume things matters to all of us. What happens to things after we’ve used them or finished with them matters, too.

And that’s why this page contains useful information about:

  • how we can all reduce our consumption and our waste
  • how we can reuse and upcycle things
  • how we can recycle more.

Household recycling

Most recycling is collected by Wiltshire Council – or can be dropped off at one of their Household Recycling Centres (HRCs).

The nearest HRC to Bradford on Avon is at the Canal Road Industrial Estate in Trowbridge.

You can find out more about recycling at home and at HRCs on Wiltshire Council’s website.

Recycling in shops and supermarkets

  • soft plastics at the Co-Op and outside Sainsbury’s.

Recycling in Bradford on Avon’s parks & green spaces

Some of our parks and green spaces have recycling bins alongside the usual litter bins.

Terracycle

TerraCycle schemes can help to recycle things that can’t be recycled in other ways.

We used to have a dedicated TerraCycle recycling station outside the Youth Centre. This opened in 2021 – and was closed in September 2025.

The station was closed because recycling opportunities in the town improved over those years – making it easier for residents to recycle.

However, we’re still happy to consider suggestions for new TerraCycle schemes going forward – and new schemes could go inside one of our buildings.

If you have a suggestion for a new TerraCycle scheme, please contact us so we can consider this.

Other ways to reduce, reuse and recycle

We have initiated and supported a number of other projects aimed at helping people in the town to reduce, reuse and recycle.
