Memorial & dedicated benches in BOA

We know how meaningful it can be to remember loved ones and celebrate important anniversaries — and benches can be long-lasting dedications.

Bradford on Avon is fortunate enough to have many beautiful green spaces which will be the favourite place to be for many.

You can apply for a memorial bench in some of our green spaces including Westbury Gardens, Victory Field, Culver Close, Barton Farm Country Park, Bearfield, Bradford on Avon Cemetery and Poulton Park.

If you’re interested in dedicating a bench

Please read through the below documents that explain more about the process, where benches are or where they can be, alongside our guidance for dedicating a bench.

The guidance is written to ensure that every request is treated with care and that they are thoughtfully placed.

How we’ll look after the bench

Please note that dedicating a bench does not give the donor the right to decide how it is managed in the future.

However, we do take responsibility for maintaining the bench to ensure it stays in good condition for as long as possible.

If a bench is deemed unsafe, it will be removed. In that case, you may wish to apply for a new bench to be installed.

Where do I start with requesting a bench?

Once you apply it will be considered against our guidance and the space available in the desired location.

We’ve carefully selected bench designs to reflect the character of each area and to match existing benches. For this reason, all benches must be of a type that has been approved by the town council.

If you wish, we can also arrange for a commemorative plaque to be added. The wording must be agreed with us in advance or you may choose to have no plaque at all.
