On the outskirts of the town, you’d easily miss Kingston Wood if you didn’t know it was there.
That would be a shame, though – although it’s small, it’s a beautiful space for exploring and playing. It’s also flat, with gravel paths.
Like other woodlands, the changing colours can be spectacular.
It’s also an important space as a habitats for birds, bats and a whole host of other creatures.
The light – combined with the textures and shapes of the trees – makes for great photo opportunities, too.
What you’ll find here
2 children’s play areas – one aimed at toddlers and younger children, one for slightly older children with ample opportunities for den making.
A mix of mature native and non-native trees, including:
- sycamore (acer pseudoplatanus)
- horse chestnut (aesculus hippocastanum)
- oak (quercus robur)
- beech (fagus sylvatica)
- norway maple (acer platanoides).
