Poulton Park is one of the largest green spaces in town, featuring a wildflower meadow and playing fields. The playing field has sports pitches, a children’s play area and a skatepark.
In April 2022, we took over management of Poulton Park from Wiltshire Council. Since then, we’ve been working to improve the park by planting trees, adding meadow grass and wildflowers, opening the skatepark and improving the play area.
Our skatepark
In August 2023 we opened the new skatepark at Poulton Park. The riding surface is concrete.
If you’re coming to the skatepark from the playing field, the grass here is generally cut short. There’s a gentle slope down to or up to the skatepark, depending on which direction you’re coming from.
If you’re coming through the meadow, there are mown paths and trodden routes around the meadow.
Play area improvements
Phase one of the play area are done and we reopened the park on Wednesday 7 August with our Play Day event.
We’re still fundraising for phase 2 of the improvement works via our Give as You Live page.
We’re also planning a fundraising event for the play area next spring and would like to get a community team together to help organise the event.

How we manage Poulton Park
The site is managed for the sports, but we’re also working to improve the green space over time.
We’re planting trees to make it more beautiful and interesting and we’re enhancing the entire area to support more wildlife.
Given Poulton Park’s size, these changes can make a significant difference for nature. The meadow is especially noteworthy, with orchids and other wildflowers blooming in the spring, attracting butterflies as well.

The nearest car park to the skatepark is the Canal & River Trust car park at the end of Bailey’s Barn.
