Sustainable Development & Travel

The Sustainable Development & Travel Committee looks at issues affecting the built environment, as well as ways to support the local economy and promote tourism.

It also works on the town council’s agreed priorities around pedestrian safety and reducing congestion, and liaises with Wiltshire Council’s Local Highways and Footpath Improvement Group (LHFIG).

You can find a downloadable copy of the Highways Improvement Request Form on Wiltshire Council’s website, under ‘raising an issue’.

Any Highways Improvement Request Form should be sent to the town council which operates as a consultee. We’d ask that any requests are submitted with evidence of local support.

To see the status of supported requests in progress, please see the below chart.

Councillors on the committee also review planning applications and make recommendations to Full Council. This forms part of the town council’s role as a statutory consultee in the planning process.

There are eleven councillors on this committee.
