Do you want to be a become a councillor?

Did you know there are 2,118 parish council seats across Wiltshire? On Thursday 1 May, all these seats — along with 98 Wiltshire Council (unitary council) seats — will be up for election.

Why stand for election in Bradford on Avon? There’s a lot of reasons to want to become a town councillor — not least to be part of pushing the community forward.

Nominations open on Wednesday 12 March at 10am and close on Wednesday 2 April at 4pm — don’t miss the deadline if you want your name on the ballot!

Important dates to keep in mind

  • councillor nominations open — 12 March
  • councillor nominations close — 2 April (4pm)
  • deadline to register to vote — 11 April (midnight)
  • deadline to apply for a postal vote, change an existing postal vote or proxy vote — 14 April (5pm)
  • deadline to apply for a new proxy vote — 23 April (5pm)
  • deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate — 23 April (5pm)
  • deadline to appoint polling and counting agents — 24 April
  • polling day — 1 May (7am to 10pm)
  • verification and counting of votes — 2 to 3 May
  • deadline for return of election expenses (parish councils) — 29 May
  • deadline for return of election expenses (Wiltshire Council elections) — 6 June.
