7th April 2017

B3109 Frome Road, Bradford on Avon

Installation of Puffin Crossing – Starting Tuesday, 18 April 2017

As consultant representative for Wiltshire Council, I write to inform you of roadworks install a new traffic signal controlled pedestrian crossing facility at Frome Road, Bradford on Avon adjacent to TT Cycles and The Canal Tavern.

The works include installing underground ducting, access chambers, kerbing and footway works in the direct vicinity of the crossing area as shown on the attached plan, and include improvement to the street lighting system in the general area. Works are programmed to commence on Tuesday 18th April 2017 and it is expected to take up to 4 weeks to complete all the works including the street lighting improvements and electrical supply works associated with the scheme.
Due to the nature of the works and the local environment, works are to be undertaken within temporary traffic management and control that will require the use of portable traffic lights on the B3109 Frome Road, to include the junction of Kennet Gardens at times, and will include the need to manage pedestrian movements around the works to ensure that adequate health and safety is maintained for all road users, local residents/businesses fronting the works and the contractors (Ringway and Telent) operatives.
The works will generally be carried out during normal week day working hours with manual control of the temporary traffic lights during peak traffic flow periods.
I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause and reassure you that every effort will be made to maintain access at all times to properties and businesses fronting the works.
