Councils working together launch electric bus survey

People in and around Bradford on Avon are being asked for their views on a solar-powered electric bus service.

Bradford on Avon Town Council, the Wiltshire Council Area Board, Big Lemon, and Option 24/7 are working in partnership to gauge the potential for a community-owned, electric bus service.

Cllr Tim Trimble, chair of the Sustainable Travel Committee and Wiltshire Councillor, said: “I am very excited about this opportunity to bring sustainable public transport around the town. Also, for residents to have their say on where they want the buses to run.

“We need to get more people using public transport to meet our 2030 zero-carbon target and this is a great way to do it.

“A better bus service also helps to reduce social isolation and loneliness in the community.”

Big Lemon operate a fleet of zero-emissions buses in Brighton and is about to launch in Bristol.

Option 24/7 is the official partner of Wiltshire Council, which represents bus user groups across the county.
