Annual Town Gathering

May 17 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The Annual Town Gathering (formerly known as the Annual Town Meeting) is a meeting of ‘electors’ in the town – anyone who can vote in the town can attend and speak, should they wish.  We are required to hold this assembly once a year between the end of March and end of May. The Meeting is presided over by the current Chair of Council, in our case the Mayor, and it is traditionally organised by the Town Council.

This year, the Council have invited groups that have received funding over the last year to come and tell the town about the work they have been doing – and for you to learn about the fantastic community groups that operate in the town.  We’ll also hear from outgoing Mayor Cllr. David Garwood, reflecting on his year in office and the achievements of the Council over the last year, and Leader of the Council Cllr. Dom Newton on policy initiatives for the coming year. There will then be a chance for you to ask questions of your councillors.

To end the evening, from 9pm there will be music from The Water Gypsies and a bar serving until 10pm. Please note that soft drinks only will be available pre-9pm.
