Green Man Festival brings nearly 10,000 to Bradford on Avon

Thousands packed Bradford on Avon this weekend to celebrate the town’s annual Green Man Festival.

Every year in May, our historic town welcomes guests from near and far to mark the seasons changing from spring to summer.

The family-friendly, community event is one of the largest of its type in the country – and features traditional dance, music, song and folklore.

Crowds joined Jack & Jill in the Green’s whimsical procession – accompanied by bands and fantasy beasts.

While Morris dancers, mummers and musicians entertained audiences in venues across the town.

Festival organiser Alfie Windsor said: “The event magically generates an incredible atmosphere and it is such a pleasure to see so many relaxed and friendly people having so much fun.”

On the day, 46 dance groups and around 200 musicians performed around the town and in concert.

This year’s event was again organised by residents Alfie and Jan Windsor – with support from Bradford on Avon Town Council.
