Mayor helps international Baum Challenge branch out to Wiltshire

Town Mayor Councillor Jack Vittles has planted a weeping birch at Culver Close as part of the Baum Challenge, after being nominated by the Mayor of Trowbridge, Councillor Stephen Cooper.

Today, Councillor Vittles was joined by the Chief Executive & Town Clerk, officers, residents and members of the German Twinning Association to mark the occasion.

In the spirit of friendship, he nominated Salisbury Mayor, Councillor John Wells, and Melksham Mayor, Councillor Saffi Rabey to take up the challenge next.

The tradition, originally from Germany, has now come to Wiltshire through twinning towns. Bradford on Avon has proudly twinned with Norden, Germany for over 50 years.
