Bradford on Avon Town Council has elected a new Mayor & Deputy Mayor for the year ahead.

At the Annual Full Council meeting on Tuesday 12 May, councillors elected Councillor Sam Blackwell as Mayor and Councillor Kevin Elliott as Deputy Mayor.

They are taking over the roles from Councillor Jack Vittles, who was Mayor for two years, and Councillor Kate Bessant who served as Deputy Mayor for 2025/26.

Looking forward to the year ahead, the new Mayor, Councillor Blackwell said: “I’m very grateful for the trust my fellow councillors have placed in me by electing me to serve as Mayor for the coming year.

“It’s a great privilege to represent our town and I would like to recognise the outstanding contribution of outgoing Mayor, Councillor Jack Vittles and Deputy Mayor Councillor Kate Bessant.

“I am delighted to be serving alongside our newly elected Deputy Mayor, Councillor Elliott.

“We look forward to a busy year ahead – pushing forward key projects such as the new pedestrian bridge and play area upgrades, and supporting our wonderful local organisations and residents to make Bradford on Avon an even better place to live, work and visit”

“I am very much looking forward to the role of Deputy Mayor and to working alongside Sam,” added Deputy Mayor, Councillor Elliott.

“Carrying on the progress made on the new bridge and the town traffic issues are of significant importance to me, alongside the towns future growth and development.”
