Over 2,000 people have signed a petition calling on Wiltshire Council to remove the former golf course as a reserve site from its draft Local Plan.
Bradford on Avon Town Council launched the petition on Wednesday 1 November through Change.org – which has since amassed over 1,050 signatures.
Equally, passionate residents have been canvassing to get others to back the cause in such a short space of time. Nearly 1,000 people signed the physical petition.
On Wednesday 22 November, we sent the petition signatures to Wiltshire Council alongside our comments on the draft Local Plan.
Councillor Alison Potter said: “This could not be achieved without the tireless work of residents willing to give their time to spread the word.
“Thank you to everyone who has taken their time to canvass, sign or share the petition.
“Every single signature helps show the strength of feeling about the former gold course and how much of a loss it would be to the town if the site was developed.
“We eagerly await the results of the consultation.”
