TerraCycle Ends Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme

From Friday, 22 April, the Town Council will no longer be accepting empty crisp packets to recycle.

TerraCycle has stopped The Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme with Walkers because more and more recycling points have opened at supermarkets across the nation.

Walkers and TerraCycle launched the project in December 2018, as there were no nationwide solutions to recycling flexible plastics like crisp packets.

Since then, millions have given their empties a second life, turning them into outdoor furniture and playgrounds.

Bradford on Avon Town Council has been a part of the scheme for 10-months.

To date, the Town Council has collected 130 kilos of empty crisp packets and donated £100 to The Hub.

TerraCycle said: “Over the past year, more and more flexible plastic recycling points have been established at supermarket locations nationwide, creating a network of more than 3,500 collection points today.

“This means crisp packets can now be dropped off for recycling, along with all other types of flexible plastic, at any of these locations.

“In light of this progress, and after careful consideration, The Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme will close this April.”
