Town Council office to become donation station for Wiltshire Digital Drive
You can now drop off your unused laptops, smartphones and tablets at Bradford on Avon Town Council’s Kingston House office.
The Town Council’s office in the town centre is now a donation station for Wiltshire Digital Drive, a Community Interest Company (CIC) that refurbishes and recycles donated devices.
Refurbished devices are then gifted back to the community – enabling education and bridging the digital divide in Wiltshire.
“It can be hard to know what to do with an old phone or an unused laptop” said Councillor Alex Kay, the chair of the Town Council’s Environment & Green Spaces committee.
“Now, you can drop them off at the Town Council’s office in the town. After that, Wiltshire Digital Drive’s team will collect what’s been donated; before wiping the devices and either refurbishing them or recycling them.”
Natalie Sherman, co-director at Wiltshire Digital Drive, said: “Since forming in October 2020, we’ve been blown away by the support and generosity of the local community.
“To date we have saved over 6 tonnes of digital waste from going to landfill and have helped over 2500 people get connected by providing them with their own laptop, free of charge.
“We’re so thankful for our network of Donation Stations, who make this possible.
“Having somewhere in Bradford on Avon means even it will be even easier for people in the area to donate their unloved tech.”
Our office is open for donations between 9am and 4pm on weekdays, except on Bank Holidays.
If you’re donating a laptop, Wiltshire Digital Drive needs the charger cable as well.
For PC donations, it’s good to have the keyboard, mouse and monitor.
And for tablet or smartphone donations, charging cables and cases are useful.
If you have any questions about what you can donate – and what condition it needs to be in – you can contact Wiltshire Digital Drive at email@example.com
There’s more information and a useful questions and answers section on Wiltshire Digital Drive’s website. The website includes information about how organisations can apply for refurbished devices.
