On June 6th, the South Ward of Bradford on Avon went to the polls, and elected Sarah Gibson to the position of Town Councillor.
Sarah, who runs an architectural practice locally, will join the other eleven Town Councillors at Full Council and is also eligible to join Council Committees which will be confirmed in the near future.
Sarah said of her new role:
“I am really excited to be joining the team of Town Councillors and I intend to continue to use my position at Wiltshire Council for the good of the town specifically while continuing to work on the wider issues that affect us all. I am part of the Wiltshire Council Task Group looking at delivering on the deceleration of a climate emergency. I am a member of the Western area Planning committee, the Strategic Planning Committee and chair the Wiltshire Council BoA Community Transport Group as well as a spokesperson on Planning and Housing.
I hope this additional insight into areas of urban planning, highways and the environment will make me a useful addition and I am looking forward to being more closely involved in achieving the objectives the Council has for the town over the next two years.”

Leader of the Council, Dom Newton said:
“We are very pleased to welcome Sarah to the team. She’s been an effective Wiltshire Councillor over the last two years and I’ve worked closely with her on various projects over that time, from traffic and planning matters, to working with the Boater community.
We have a busy programme to deliver for the town over the next two years, including everything from community spaces and well-being, to planning, environment and traffic – Sarah will have an integral part to play in delivering that programme. I’m sure I speak for all my Town Council colleagues when I look forward to working in a constructive partnership with her to deliver a positive and progressive agenda.”
