The first stages of the work to repair the Westbury Garden wall are well underway.
We have consent from the Environment Agency to begin the work, and we’re pleased to say that a temporary prop has been installed to hold a section of the wall in place (pictured).
Contractors will be working this summer to remove the top of the wall that the tree is pushing against and to stabilise the structure.
Work on the tree is now complete. We’ve carried out some pruning and installed new cable braces.
This is because the old cables had supported the tree for decades, and it has grown reliant on those braces.
We’ve installed modern braces that remain loose but will support the branches if any break.
