Wiltshire Council to launch consultation on pedestrian crossing changes

Wiltshire Council is consulting on proposed changes to a pedestrian crossing on Winsley Road.

The amendments by Wiltshire Council to this crossing from a Pelican to a Puffin (Pedestrian User-Friendly Intelligent) Crossing is “to update existing equipment to provide a safe and improved crossing location for pedestrians”.

These changes would form of traffic signal-controlled crossing and extend the existing zig zag markings and relocate as follows:

  1. a) Northern side of carriageway – centre of the crossing is at a point approximately 35 metres east of its junction with Churches. The controlled zone will be a distance of approximately 10 metres either side of the centre of the crossing
  2. b) Southern side of carriageway – centre of the crossing is at a point approximately 35 metres east of its junction with Churches. The controlled zone will be a distance of approximately 36 metres east of the centre of the crossing and 10 metres in a westerly direction

The consultation will launch on Friday, 15 July 2022, and all comments must be made by Monday, August 8 2022.
