Electrification through the Severn Tunnel

 Electrification through the Severn Tunnel
This update is regarding the upcoming electrification work through the Severn Tunnel which takes place between Monday 12 September and Friday 21 October.
The work means the tunnel will be closed throughout this period, but the railway remains open – either by virtue of trains being diverted, or the provision of rail replacement buses.
Alternative timetables will operate throughout the work, with journeys to London taking about 35 minutes longer and Bristol 45 minutes longer.
This is essential work towards bringing electrification through to Cardiff and Swansea. It is also essential that we have a clear message that South Wales remains accessible, be that for business, commuters or leisure customers.
Every effort is being made to make journeys as easy as possible, and full details of the changes are on the GWR website https://www.gwr.com/travel-updates/planned-engineering/severn-tunnel
