Road Closures due to Wessex Water Improvement Work

Water supply improvement work in Belcombe Road, Bradford-on-Avon

As part of our ongoing improvements to the water network in the area, we are replacing water mains along Belcombe Road, between Turleigh and Bradford-on-Avon.
This will involve replacing an ageing water main that is prone to bursting with a new plastic pipe, to improve reliability and reduce supply disruption.
How will the work affect you?
Unfortunately, due to the width of Belcombe Road in places and the nature of our works, we will need to close this road in two phases:
  • Phase 1 – Monday 31 October 2016 to Friday 25 November 2016 – Belcombe Road closed between the electrical sub station/Oak House, Turleigh, and the Avoncliff railway station access road.
  • Phase 2 – Monday 28 November 2016 to Monday 13 January 2017 – Belcombe Road closed between the junction with Wine Street and private garages, approximately 70m to the West of the access to Belcombe Place. This road closure will be removed for the Christmas period between 22 December 2016 and 2 January 2017 to help minimise disruption.
During these road closures, there will be no access to through traffic. However, safe access to properties located within the extent of the closures will be maintained at all times. Short delays may be experienced while access is made safe. Emergency access will be maintained at all times, together with refuse collection access to help minimise disruption.
Alternative routes will be clearly signposted and are detailed within the enclosed plans for clarity. Unless access to properties within the extent of each closure is required, these diversion routes must be used at all times.
There may be some noise disruption (Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm) while we complete the work as quickly as possible.

What should you do?
You don’t need to do anything. You can continue to use your water supply as normal unless we tell you otherwise.
