Temporary Traffic Restrictions in Wiltshire and Bath area announced

Wiltshire Council and Bath and North East Somerset Council have issued temporary traffic restrictions affecting multiple roads in various parishes as part of essential safety measures during the A36 closure.

The safety measure will take place from Sunday 1 December to Saturday 1 March 2025.

Key restrictions include:

Road closures

  • part of Pipehouse Lane (Freshford) and Lower Stoke (Limpley Stoke)
  • no alternative route is available for Pipehouse Lane; Lower Stoke offers diversions via the B3108 and other local roads.

Width restrictions (1.98m/6’6”)

  • Midford Lane (Freshford and Limpley Stoke)
  • Church Lane (Limpley Stoke).

Height restrictions (4.1m/13’9”)

  • parts of B3108, Church Lane, Abbey Lane and Ashes Lane.

Weight limit (7.5T)

  • enforced on parts of B3108, Church Lane, Abbey Lane and Ashes Lane.

Temporary speed limits

  • 20mph on sections of Church Lane, the C221 and Abbey Lane
  • 30mph on parts of B3108 in Limpley Stoke, Monkton Combe and Winsley
  • 40mph on a section of B3108 in Winsley.

These restrictions, designed to ensure safety during the works, may extend up to 18 months if needed.
