Crowds cheer on local businesses in the annual Pancake Race

Winner Harry of C S Bowyer with Bradford on Avon's Mayor Councillor Katie VigarHarry from C S Bowyer Funeral Directors edged the other runners to win this year’s pancake race on the town bridge.

14 runners from local businesses lined up on the bridge for the 11am start of the annual race.

Each runner races over the bridge and back – stopping in the middle to flip pancakes. And trying not to drop them on the floor.

This year saw runners dressed as dinosaurs, chefs, astronauts and dogs; entertaining the crowds that gathered in the town centre.

Taking 1st first prize this year – and winning the coveted frying pan trophy – was Harry from C S Bowyer.

“It’s fantastic to win the race again,” said Harry.

“This was my 4th time running – and I’ve won the race each time! It’s always lots of fun – and I’m happy to bring the trophy back to C S Bowyer.”

Bradford on Avon’s Mayor, Councillor Katie Vigar, watched the race from the finish line: “The pancake race is such a great event for the town – and the crowd this year was one of the best ever.

“Congratulations to Harry – and to all the businesses who took part in the race.”

The Bradford on Avon Pancake Race is one of the longest running in Wiltshire.
