Local woodland brought under Town Council’s wing

The Town Council has adopted Kingston Wood which sits on the eastern edge of the Kingston Farm development.  The wood contains two formal children’s play areas and informal woodland natural play space with walkways which create an interesting, fun setting for the community to relish.

The site is an important green space with woodland cover which provides a natural habitat for local wildlife including birds, bats and small mammals; aiding conservation and biodiversity within the town.

With some bat and bird boxes already present, our Green Spaces manager, Chris Hogg, has begun assessing the woodland to understand what further improvements can be made, with a view to encouraging and increasing biodiversity still further.

Our fabulous Town Wardens have already spent an afternoon collecting and removing litter and debris, and we will keep you posted on further developments.
