Community Volunteers
The Mayor Cllr Sarah Gibson recently met with volunteers to present them with certificates for the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ competition of South West in Bloom. The Train Station Volunteers, Wiltshire Heights, Bradford on Avon Secret gardens all did well, and the Three Horseshoes achieved ‘Outstanding’, the highest rating possible.
Bradford on Avon as a whole achieved a Gold medal for its South West in Bloom entry this year, recognising the beauty of the town and the efforts of all the staff and volunteers who keep it so beautiful. We also won the Preece Cup – the best of towns of our size.
The judges’ assessment said: “An absolute gem of a town’. We received top marks in all categories:
- Horticulture: ‘a very high standard across the board’
- Environment: ‘greening efforts, reduction of carbon footprint, protection and enhancement of flora and fauna were all evident here’
- Community: ‘A well led community events programme and participation from community and business, across the board.
If you, your community group or your business wish to be considered for the competition next year, please contact the town council by email at office@bradfordonavontowncouncil.gov.uk
