Last week contractors started work on the riverside wall at Westbury Garden.
We would like to thank the Bradford on Avon Preservation Trust for donating a £5,000 grant toward the cost of these works, helping care for the town’s heritage.
The wall has degraded over time partly due to pressure from the trunk of the spectacular London plane tree, which has pushed against the structure, as well as damage caused during the November 2024 floods.
After checks for birds and bats had been completed, contractors started removing the loose masonry from the wall.
The work has been planned by contractors on the advice of a hydrological engineer, and following approval by the Environment Agency. The work is going ahead now after the fish spawning period in the river, and with the river level low.
