Kickstart the festive season at Bradford on Avon’s Christmas Lights Switch On on Friday 27 November (4pm to 8pm) in Westbury Garden – sponsored by Gough’s Solicitors!
Get ready for a festive evening packed with live music, a fairground and plenty more – all leading up to the moment when the town’s lights are switched on by Mayor, Councillor Sam Blackwell at 6pm.
The Christmas Lights Switch On is one of big the highlights of the year, and it’s a great example of the whole town coming together to support our amazing community.
Straight after the lights are switched on at 6.01pm, pop-rock band The Enrichments will take to the stage in Westbury Garden. Then, the night’s compere, Funky Booth, will keep the party going with a DJ set until 8pm.
In the run-up to the big event, the town will be getting into the festive spirit with the traditional Christmas tree in Westbury Garden, sponsored by the Bradford on Avon Lions Club.
You’ll also spot beautifully decorated trees at the Tithe Barn (sponsored by the Bradford on Avon Preservation Trust), outside the railway station (sponsored by Great Western Railway) and the Giving Tree in Lamb Yard (sponsored by Ravello).
There will be fairground rides in the library car park on Bridge Street, while St Margaret’s car park will be filled with delicious food and drink stalls.
You’ll also find festive gift stalls in St Margaret’s Hall and the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) will be open until 8pm, so you can pick up your Cards for Good Causes Christmas cards while you’re there.
Santa will also be at the TIC with his travelling grotto, so be sure to stop with your wish list!
Plus, if you head into Lamb Yard, you’ll find more live music and the Giving Tree – celebrating 12 years of generosity.
This year, the Giving Tree will be collecting for Bath Cats & Dog’s Home, The Hub@BA15 and Alongside (formerly Julian House).
And there’s more! Enjoy late-night shopping in the town centre, where our fantastic local shops are ready to help you find the perfect Christmas gifts.
In the run-up to the event, look up and you’ll see mini-Christmas trees and sparkling lights brightening the fronts of local BOA businesses.
But that’s not all, after the Christmas Lights Switch On event, we’re hosting a pantomime in St Margaret’s Hall on Wednesday 16 December (oh no, we’re not).
Step into a magical world with Cinderella, her wicked stepsisters and a very special Fairy Godmother!
This fresh, fun-filled panto gives the classic tale a modern twist, with toe-tapping tunes, laugh-out-loud comedy and plenty of chances to join in the fun.
Tickets cost £12, and are available via our TicketTailor account.
