The Mayor’s Tea Party was held on 1st of November in the historic and iconic venue, The Hall. This marked the launch for the Town Council’s series of events commemorating the centenary of end of WW1 in 1918; Countdown to Peace
It provided many of the attendees a unique experience to see inside the late Alex Moulton’s home, whilst enjoying sparkling wine, tea and cake and listening to soothing jazz pianist, Max Stanton.

Dan Farrell, one of the Trustees of the Alex Moulton Family Trust, told the poignant story of the Moulton family during WW1, including the loss of the younger son, Eric.

Venerable Steven Robbins, Wiltshire head of SSAFA attended with his wife Lydia. He gave a moving talk about the tragedy of war and need for compassion and funding for the damaged service women and men returning from conflict.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Countdown To Peace charities, SSAFA & the British Legion, as well as the BoA Women’s 100 charities, Malala Fund and Splitz. A significant sum also will go to Save the Children for the cake service.
